El Nido Resorts Lagen Island, Philippines

The resort itself comprises 51 rooms, all recently renovated in a classic contemporary style. They all have a similar layout and design with the Forest Rooms overlooking the gardens in two story blocks, the Forest Suites are slightly larger with separate living area. The Beach Cottages and Water Cottages are exactly the same with the Beachfront on stilts on the sand and the Water on stilts over the water, although you can’t access the water from your cottage.  The one main restaurant serves a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner with a wide choice of international and local Filipino speciality dishes.

A stay at Lagen Island is all about exploring this pristine and spectacular environment both on land and underwater. Activities, many included in your stay, include a cruise and kayak tour of the Big and Small Lagoons, where you’ll be surrounded by awe inspiring limestone formations, swimming in iridescent turquoise waters and island hopping to the many hidden beaches of El Nido. During the day you’ll stop off at some outstanding snorkelling spots where you’ll discover a whole other impressive side to this region. If you are a diver, the resort has its own dive centre and will take you to some of the Philippines’ most impressive reefs. A day tour will often include a lunch in one of their many beach clubs set up on remote beaches around the bay, where you can relax on a sun bed or take a kayak out on the water.

Back at the resort, there is plenty to keep you busy, you can explore the island on foot, following a trail through the island’s forest to a spectacular point with picturesque views over Bacuit Bay. En route you’ll most likely see hornbills, mischievous macaques and laid back lizards! In front of the resort you can just help yourself to a canoe or paddle board or snorkel in the waters around the bay. The swimming pool is the central hub of the resort and most popular for a relaxing dip at the end of a day’s exploring the bay. In the main building there is also badminton courts, billiards and table tennis tables and other traditional Filipino games. The resort has a spa – very important after all that activity and a perfect way to unwind after a day out and about.
