Combine the charm of Luang Prabang with The Sarojin, Thailand

Unesco World Heritage city and ancient capital, built where the waters of the Mekong meet the Khan, Luang Prabang is a place of enormous charm. As well as temples, markets, museums it is set against a backdrop of mountains, forests, snaking rivers and rice paddies.

Luang Prabang's Unesco World heritage status has preserved the ancient charm of this beautiful town which still remains relatively unknown on the tourist map. It can easily be incorporated into a tailor-made journey through Indochina but can equally be visited as an add-on to a beach holiday in Vietnam or Thailand with direct flights from Bangkok and Hanoi. For the purpose of this suggested itinerary we have combine a stay in Luang Prabang with a relaxing 6 nights at one of our favourite retreats in Thailand, The Sarojin, however our team can tailor any option to suit your individual requirements.

  • Days 1 -4 Luang Prabang, Laos

    The curved roofs of ancient temples, resident monks in saffron coloured robes and golden Buddhist stupas characterise the serene charm of Luang Prabang. With more than thirty temples, there is a sense of peace and tranquillity and this is a truly captivating place to spend a few days.

    During your stay the temple caves at Pak Ou are a beautiful place to visit. Around an hour by boat from the town of Luang Prabang, the caves have been a place of pilgrimage for local Buddhists for centuries. A collection of Buddha images of all shapes and sizes now resides in the caves and is added to yearly by Luang Prabang residents. The Kuang Si waterfalls are close to Luang Prabang and make for a picturesque excursion and it is possible to swim there at certain times of the year, although the water can be cold! And for those interested in the untouched surrounding countryside, there are hilltribe villages to be visited.

    Hop on a plane for the quick flight to Phuket, via Bangkok, and before you know it you’ll be reclining your beachside sunbed, cool drink in hand planning how best to spend the next 6 days – lounging by the stunning Sarojin pool, lying on the beach, indulging in a 4 hand Faa Kart signature massage or for adventure seekers going trekking, rafting, rock climbing or learning Thai cookery. You can do as much or as little as you like and The Sarojin is the perfect place to do both.
