Kenya is the homeland of safari and the heart of East Africa, if you’re looking for a honeymoon which offers genuine authenticity, romance and excitement then it would be hard not to consider this beautiful country.

A family holiday to Kenya, in East Africa, is all about the safari – in fact, the traditional African safari was born in Kenya. We can all recall the freedom of our youth when we were outside all day, catching tadpoles, climbing trees and making dens in the woods.

Imagine a day that begins with the aroma of Kenyan coffee or tea brought to your tent by your personal Maasai attendant - and being greeted by the snow capped peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro as you step out onto your verandah.

The Kenyan coastline is blessed by gentle tradewinds which brought Arab trading dhows to the region and lined with sand beaches fringing the warm inviting waters of the Indian Ocean.

This spectacular region is considered the gateway to Kenya’s wild Northern frontier country. Wild and sparsely populated, much of the Laikipia is covered by large privately owned ranches which cover a wide range of landscapes, from high plains to low forested valleys.

Located in northern Kenya, the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is one of Kenya’s major private conservation success stories, wonderfully set in the foothills of Mount Kenya.

Each year the Mara plays host to the world’s greatest natural spectacle, the Great Wildebeest Migration which moves north from the Serengeti in July and August in search of fresh life giving grass.

Whilst Kenya is only three hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time and only eight hours flying time, it is a million miles away from the UK in most other respects.
