Sens eon the edge at Zighy Bay

For me, unique dining experiences at a hotel are my favourite part of a holiday! Six Senses Zighy Bay definitely does not disappoint. Located on the northern part of the Musendam Peninsular in Oman, with the Hajar Mountains as a backdrop to this village style hotel and the azur gulf of Oman in front – the setting is stunning.

At Zighy Bay there are six different dining options. Starting with the main restaurant – Summer House, this beautiful inside/outside option has tables dotted overlooking the main pool all with vibrant pink and purple napkins, you really feel do on holiday here. The homemade sorbets and ice creams are a must here. Spice Market is where the sumptuous breakfast happens. Also during my stay there was a buffet offering the best tastes and smells of Arabic food.

Six Senses Restaurant

The Zighy Bar is open for ”no rush hour” cocktails… essentially open until the last person leaves the bar. I highly recommend the delicious tapas for a light meal or snack to accompany a ‘Lonely Mountain Martini’! For a private romantic dinner during your stay, the Wine Cellar is the place for you. It is also very cool, so a perfect place to escape the summer heat! This experience can also be enjoyed with friends or family, seating up to 8 people along with a sommelier offering a personalised and unique insight into some of the worlds most diverse wines.

If you are after a true Arabian, Bedouin experience, starting with local organic salads, then lamb cooked in an underground oven to cooler off with a Lebanese beer – Shua Shack on the beach is an absolute must! It is extremely popular and only open on Mondays and Fridays so be sure to reserve a table.

The Food at Six Senses Zighy Bay
After all these wonderful dining experiences…for me what really shone above the rest was Sense on the Edge.

Available to book throughout the week for breakfast or dinner, you are met at reception by a driver who whisks you away, no more than a 10 minute drive, to arrive at a mountaintop dining spot. For dinner there is a choice of five or seven course set menus and on Wednesday there is a special lobster menu. S

ense on the Edge is one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. With the most eye capturing views over the resort and beyond, mouth watering food and a glass of prosecco in hand…it truly was a ‘heaven on earth’ moment I won’t forget.

I was about 5 years old when my parents thought it was time my two sisters and I saw the world from the sea. Since then every summer has consisted of a sailing holiday to different destinations across the world. I love seeing new places, meeting new people and tasting different food. So working at Turquoise Holidays for me is the perfect job, helping people plan their dream holidays and honeymoons to many of the destinations I have visited myself.
