We had an absolutlely wonderful honeymoon on Cocoa Island. Words cannot describe how beautiful the island is, the food was some of the best we have ever eaten and the staff were a delight - one of the waiters has just e-mailed me to say he misses us! It was just perfect. We are even toying with the idea of going back for our 1st Anniversary!!

 Wedding was wonderful and we had a lovely time in Mauritius. The Ocean Front Suite at The Residence was excellent - very spacious inside and well equipped with a great view out over the sea. The Oberoi was also good - the food was fantastic (the separate vegetarian menu was lovely - it's not often I get the choice of six or seven dishes) and the desserts - well the one with the hot chocolate sauce poured onto the chocolate sphere, which then melted and uncovered the ice-cream inside was amazing.....!

 The Pool Villa was nice too - although we didn't use our pool much as a little chilly plus wasn't in the sun as much as the main pools. Only quibbles (and these are very minor) with the Oberoi was that it took three requests to repair the bath which didn't work when we arrived and the bar was deserted (when it rained/was breezy it was a touch wet and cold as open on all four sides).

 Mauritours were OK - transfers went smoothly only issue was with contacting them when we were at the hotels - the representatives were not always at the hotel at the advertised times - but both hotel receptions were great and just contacted them for us.

 Tip for other holiday makers - the price of Champagne in the hotels is very steep (over 140 Euros a bottle) -  so we bought some at the arrivals shop at the airport which turned out to be a top tip as it was less than a quarter of the price  -  so we happily quaffed champagne throughout out honeymoon!!!

 Only issue now is where do we go next  - where would you suggest for a week away in late September/October !

Hello Jo, sorry this is so late but remembered you asked me to let you know how we got on in Tahiti.

We had a great time with no problems at all and everything clicked fairly quickly in place. 

The weather was 99% fine with the odd tropical downpour I think twice.  The Intercontinental Hotels worked out well and we really enjoyed the ones at Bora Bora the Thalasso being tops of course in the layout.

However, just a word for anyone else travelling, the extra costs of food were astronomical in that breakfast was £25 p.p. and dinner for just a main course usually worked out at around £35 plus drinks and no first or last course.  Even trying to dine out in the wooden shacks around were hardly any cheaper all due to the Euro and their link to the Polynesian france.

All in all, though, well worth the trip for the fabulous seas and reefs etc. etc.  people lovely and no problems with the security in that part of the world.

So thats it until next year and probably we shall stay closer to home but thanks for your input this year.

I can’t tell you how much we loved Cocoa Island – it was absolutely perfect and just what we were after. Small, intimate, great food and fantastic staff. The weather blessed us too – six days of glorious sunshine. Heaven!
