We had a very enjoyable stay at The Traders Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, followed by a short flight to the Tanjong Jara Resort (near Dungun). Traders Hotel was good, nice atmosphere, very well located with fantastic views of the Twin Towers. Advanced booking for a table by the window in The Sky Bar there is advised as they get lots of people coming there from outside the hotel for cocktail hour. The airport transfers and guided tour organised by Turquoise Holidays were excellent - everything went without a hitch. We then flew to Kuala Terengganu. For the more adventurous, this could be done by car and would take about 5 hours (a good tip for those of you who may not enjoy hanging around at airports). Tanjong Jara Resort is in a beautiful location, great for anyone who wants rest and relaxation. A small point of criticism is that the resort is looking a little tired (not as glossy as the brochure pictures)and considering the price and star rating, we would say that it is not as well maintained as one would expect. That said - it was clean, great views from all of the rooms there and the staff were fantastic, food was good and we had a very enjoyable stay. Weather in April was very nice, temperatures in the low 30s, humid, some days were slightly cloudy, but others with full sun. We spent 8 full days there and came back with great tans. Mosquitos in the evenings - so take repellant for when you are out doors - all of the rooms are sprayed and have electronic devices which meant inside we were mosquito free.

I just wanted to send you a quick note to express how completely fantastic Lisa has been at helping us organise our honeymoon.
We had quite a bespoke itinerary in mind (South Africa Safari, Dubai and the Maldives). When we have spoken to other holiday companies we really felt that they tried to put us off this itinerary (given it isn't really a standard package) and have generally found that they were not interested in taking the time to look at what we actually wanted. Instead they suggested other options that we didn't really want to do. We were starting to feel that our itinerary wasn't a viable option until we spoke to Lisa!
Right from the start Lisa was focused and interested in what we wanted to do and made that her priority. She suggested options that would be in our budget and solutions rather than obstacles to planning our ideal honeymoon. She helpfully suggested alternatives, but where we didn't want to progress those options (i.e. Mauritius rather than the Maldives) she didn't press the point like other holiday companies have! It also helped that Lisa had been to some of the places we were talking about going to and was able to talk about all of the accomodation and what would suit us best. We have been back and forth a lot to get it sorted but Lisa has made it really easy. Nothing was too much trouble for her. In the end the itinerary was so perfect we have exceeded our budget and feel that we have the perfect holiday! She is an asset to your company and I'm sure you will reward her in an appropriate way.
I have also, just a moment ago, recommended Lisa to a friend who is trying to book her Maldives holiday so you may get a call from her shortly!
Please pass on our thanks to Lisa. We are so looking forward to our honeymoon now!

Hi Caroline,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you! Yes I'm more than happy to give feedback :)
The Elephant Hills was absolutely amazing. The rainforest camp in particular was an incredible place to stay, and the staff at both camps were so friendly and helpful. They gave us a bottle of wine because it was our honeymoon, which I don't remember seeing in the list of inclusions that you sent, so it was a lovely surprise. The food that we had in both camps was probably some of the best that we had in Thailand, which is quite a feat (particularly in the rainforest camp!) There is absolutely nothing negative that I can say about the Elephant Hills, we were so impressed. The Sukohtai was also very good. Actually I can't think of anything negative to say here either. Again the staff were lovely and our suite was beautiful and very big! The Sarojin was exactly what we were hoping for...paradise :) Both Josh and I aren't particularly good at not doing much (we get bored very easily) so we were a little concerned that a place like the Sarojin might be a little quiet for us, and whilst it was quiet, we certainly didn't get bored. The staff always had suggestions about what we could do, such as going to the local market, taking the hobbycat out to the cape, going to watch the sunset at the local beach bar etc. Also I should mention that the hotel upgraded us from our pool residence to a suite, free of charge, which was very kind of them. The only two slightly negative things I have to say about the Sarojin are: 1. The Sarojin (not you!!) advertise that they have a private beach, which is misleading...it's a public beach with a section in front of the hotel, which they reserve for their guests. It's a beautiful beach and the staff are very good at making sure that only their guests have use of the sun loungers, but it's misleading to say it's a private beach when anyone who wants can walk across it. 2. According to the info that you sent us, we were supposed to have free transfers into Khao Lak, but when we enquired we were told that we had to pay extra. It was only 100 baht per person, so it wasn’t really worth worrying about. To end on a high note with the Sarojin, the breakfasts were incredible. The food was fantastic, you could have as much as you wanted (all freshly prepared and served a la carte), you could have unlimited sparkling wine and the best part was you could have breakfast any time of day (on one occasion we went to breakfast at 4pm and the staff acted like that was perfectly normal!!) so there was no sense of urgent rush to get up in the morning. The private seafood BBQ was also fantastic. We were concerned because we had seen others have their BBQ on the beach outside the hotel, and on the day that we had chosen to have ours, the hotel were hosting a beach event for all guests. I was worried because the whole point of the private BBQ was privacy……..but we shouldn’t have doubted them! When they came to collect us for dinner, they walked us 5 minutes down the beach to a completely secluded area. It was perfect! Anyway I’m sure that’s enough feedback for you
Thanks again for all your help arranging our perfect honeymoon. We had an amazing time and it’s a holiday that we will remember fondly for a long, long time :) read less
