Situated on the quiet and untouched tropical island of Phu Quoc, an easy one hour flight south from Saigon, La Veranda is the first luxury hotel to open at this up and coming destination. Renowned for its peaceful atmosphere and pristine beaches, Phu Quoc is emerging as a new destination on the Vietnam beach scene. As yet, the island has been more or less untouched by the beach bars and backpacker bungalows so common on other Southeast Asian beaches. Simple local-style seafood restaurants offer incredible feasts of freshly caught soft-shelled crab, king prawns or squid. The island also has pearl farms, jungle trails with small waterfalls and is well known for its production of ‘phuoc nam’, the Vietnamese fish sauce so widely used in its cuisine. La Veranda is a lovely intimate colonial style property with only 43 rooms set on a beautiful white sand beach, lapped by the warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand. Although less luxurious than some other Asian resorts, the simple yet elegant style of the rooms fits very well with the island’s overall atmosphere. Rooms are tastefully decorated with elegant fabrics and wooden floors, and each room has a private outdoor area making for the perfect spot for a cocktail at sunset. Enjoy fine dining at The Pepper Tree Restaurant or a torch-lit fresh seafood barbeque at The Beach Grill or simply have a private dinner on your terrace or balcony. La Veranda also offers a Spa, swimming pool, dive and water sports centre as well as great cooking classes twice a week.
