The Park Hyatt is Saigon’s newest and most opulent luxury hotel. Benefiting from possibly the best location in the entire city, the Park Hyatt lies in between the major streets of Dong Khoi and Hai Ba Trung and is therefore surrounded by many excellent shopping and dining options. The historic street of Le Loi is just opposite and the hotel itself faces Saigon’s iconic Opera House. Notre Dame Cathedral is just a few minutes walk in one direction and the Saigon River is equally close by in the opposite direction. Although newly built, this grand building is very much in keeping with the French colonial architecture which characterises Saigon itself. An imposing cream façade is complemented by regal columns and large windows. Inside the hotel, dark wooden floors, fresh cut flowers, Oriental rugs and artwork complete the look. The hotel is large, with 259 rooms ranging from Park Rooms to the Presidential Suite. All rooms are colonial in style, with wooden floors, antique style furniture and understated cream furnishings. Each room includes a marble bathtub and separate walk-in rain shower. Rooms also include a separate work area. In room amenities fulfill expectations of a property of this calibre and include flatscreen television, high speed internet access, satellite television channels and tea/coffee making facilities. Rooms have either city or pool view. Whilst Park Rooms are generous in size and facilities, travellers may wish to upgrade to the Park Deluxe Rooms, which are all located on the third floor and have large floor to ceiling glass windows and wooden shutters. These windows open onto a private terrace and have direct pool access, as well as easy access to the gym and spa. The Xuan Spa is an excellent way to unwind after a day’s exploration of Saigon. An oasis of calm in the midst of this bustling city, treatments include aromatherapy facials and reflexology. The hotel also has a beautiful outdoor swimming pool and a state of the art fitness room. There is also a beauty salon which offers hair care, manicures and pedicures. Dining is a real highlight at this magnificent hotel. The Park Hyatt boasts Saigon’s best Italian restaurant, the chic l’Opera. Dine outside on the terrace overlooking Lam Son Square or inside in casual yet stylish trattoria style surroundings. Authentic pasta and homestyle cooking are highlights, as is the large pizza oven. Square One is the hotel’s wonderful Vietnamese restaurant, also serving some international dishes. This is more of a fine dining option and the highlights include the finest quality imported meats for Western dishes, as well as succulent fresh local seafood for the best Vietnamese dishes. This striking restaurant is complemented by an eye-catching wall display of imported wine bottles. There is live jazz in the Park Lounge, where guests can enjoy afternoon tea and the hotel also offers a delicious Prosecco brunch at weekends. The hotel can even organise a gourmet cooking class.
