Breakas Beach Resort

This delightful boutique property lies on a sweeping stretch of white sand beach fringed with coconut palms just 15 minutes from Port Vila. The beach is also the location of one of Vanuatu’s top surf breaks, hence the reason for the name!

A total of 27 individual, thatched bungalows provide an idyllic refuge for those seeking peace and tranquility. Ten of the bungalows directly face the ocean whilst the others are tucked away in the gardens. Coral bathrooms give a distinctly Pacific feel and each bungalow has a queen bed and is cooled by a ceiling fan and the gentle ocean breezes.

Breakas has a lovely restaurant (with succulent lobster and Mahi-Mahi amongst the specialities) and at night, tables on the verandah and around the pool are romantically lit by the flickering glow of hurricane lamps and local musicians often play as the sun goes down… There is also a pool bar and a small spa - and once a week (usually on a Wednesday), the hotel showcases Melanesian culture combined with a special feast.

Days can easily be whiled away relaxing on the beach or by the infinity pool - or snorkelling in the magnificent coral gardens immediately in front of the hotel (dolphins, turtles, dugongs and whales are sometimes seen here too!). If you are feeling active, petanque, beach volleyball, table tennis and board games are also available. It is certainly well worth taking the time to explore the island. Trips around Efate can easily be arranged - and Port Vila, with its colourful markets and restaurants, is only 15 minutes away.
