Elephant Hills Tented Jungle Camp

Inspired by the African safari camps Elephant Hills is the first luxury camp of its kind in Thailand. Set in two locations – the original camp has 30 tents in a stunning position with expansive views of the jungle and river below, while the Rainforest Camp offers 20 tents set on a floating platform on Cheow Larn Lake – for the ultimate experience we recommend a night in each.

SLEEP

A stay at Elephant Hills adds a new dimension to any Thai holiday, this is a very natural experience deep in the jungles of Southern Thailand and whilst not luxury in the perceived sense of the word the tents are extremely comfortable, all are en-suite with hot and cold running water and Western style toilets, and have power-points, fans and kettles. The Rainforest Camp uses both solar power and wind energy.  Tents at both locations have an outside seating area, perfect for a sun-downer or a spot of stargazing.  The main camp features the Jungle Bar – the location for included buffet meals, cooking demonstrations and dance performances by local schools, along with a swimming pool.  The floating camp has a more intimate feel and the added benefit of being able to swim in the warm clear waters of the lake.

PLAY

Turquoise recommends a 2 night stay combining both locations.  The owners are passionate about elephants and about the jungle itself. You will be able to learn all about the habitat and habits of the elephants, as well as their conservation. A wide variety of activities are included such as a Mahout experience which offers the wonderful opportunity to feed and wash the elephants, as well as jungle trekking, a canoe ride on the Sok River for the more active, or cruising and kayaking on the lake.

Khao Sok is undoubtedly one of Thailand’s most beautiful National Parks – with karst limestone formations soaring out of the jungle, clad in lush green foliage and filled with wildlife of all sorts. The backdrop is stunning and the atmosphere in this camp is unforgettable. And with its close proximity to Phuket it is easily combined with a beach retreat.
