Intimate and charming, the Zazen is a low rise resort with only 25 guestrooms, located on picturesque Bophut beach on Koh Samui. Rooms are scattered amongst lush, tropical style gardens and each one is designed to resemble a small and elegant Thai home. Wooden furniture in the Chiang Mai style and terracotta tiled floors give an authentic and welcoming feel. Wide glass doors and a large veranda allow for plenty of space and light. All rooms come with a private balcony. There are four Beachfront Deluxe rooms which are very popular, due to their romantic location right on the beach. Garden Deluxe rooms are slightly larger and located in the gardens a little behind the beach. Garden Deluxe Villas are the newest and most spacious rooms, with a contemporary style. All rooms have air-conditioning, flatscreen television, DVD and music station as well as the usual facilities such as tea and coffee making. Some rooms also have tropical semi-open Balinese style bathrooms. The resort is run by a Swiss-Thai family, who are supremely welcoming and professional. There is a large free-form swimming pool with Jacuzzi area which is set in the gardens close to the resort's beach which is is sandy and clean. There is a small spa for massages and other beauty treatments. The resort has an ‘East meets West’ restaurant where diners enjoy fusion food created by a Belgian chef in a candlelit and romantic setting.
