Although not located on the beach itself, the AKA is one of the finer examples of the villa concept in Thailand today. Effortlessly chic and completely secluded, the AKA is actually situated inland, overlooking the mountains and surrounding rice paddies, and is around fifteen minutes’ drive from the beaches of Hua Hin. Whilst the resort offers hourly shuttles to the beach, most of the guests who come to this beautiful hideaway are unlikely to leave the privacy of their villa. Entering through a walled gateway to a private garden, each of the 54 villas contains a bedroom, outdoor sala, day bed and sunken outdoor bathtub. The larger villas also contain a living area and small kitchenette. All of the villas boast a private infinity edge pool, varying in size according to room type. The décor is characterised by an open-plan, minimalist design which is both contemporary and relaxing. For those who really do not wish to leave the sanctuary of their villa, spa treatments can be organised inside the villa as can private dining in the outdoor area featured in each villa. Dining is a true feature of this resort – a world-class French chef creates modern Mediterranean cuisine in a truly chic surrounding. Guests can also enjoy spa treatments or yoga and there are no less than six golf courses within a twenty minute drive. This resort is perfect for honeymooners and other couples seeking complete privacy in a truly Asian style.
