The annual wildebeest migration is the largest mass movement of land mammals on the planet –and this small ‘wandering’ tented camp closely shadows this breathtaking event, ensuring that you and your Tanzanian driver-guide are as close to the million wildebeest as possible. The camp changes location every two weeks – although not during your actual stay. Most importantly, this movement and flexibility is provided without compromising on comfort or quality.

The camp’s six classic canvas safari tents each sit on their own beautiful patch of Africa – just a stroll away from the candlelit mess tent where ‘safari bonhomie’ often lingers long into the African night. The bathrooms are ensuite, with traditional safari style bucket showers and bush toilets. Each evening at dusk, you can return from the day’s adventure to enjoy a hot shower followed by an ice-filled gin and tonic around a roaring campfire. Daily activities, with your own vehicle and guide, are planned around your individual interests.

From December to April, the camp is set up on the southern Serengeti Plains to enable access to the main wildebeest herds (February is particularly fascinating as this is the calving season). Birding is also excellent at this time of year. From May to early July, as the migration moves west and north, the camp then moves to the central Serengeti Plains and the Western Corridor. From mid-July to November, the camp relocates to the quieter northern Serengeti, close to either the Mara or Bologonja Rivers, resulting in both great game viewing and sightings of the migration river crossings. Towards late November, the camp starts to head south again, arriving on the southern Serengeti Plains by mid-December.
