The epitome of a safari refuge (and the first safari camp in this vast reserve), Beho Beho offers unrivalled views and a serene sense of privacy from its unique setting in the cooler highlands of the Selous. Wonderfully remote – and overlooking a beautiful valley dotted with riverine woodland and wildlife – Beho Beho (which takes its name from the cooling breezes) is a very personal and intimate camp, fiercely proud of both its individuality and its stunning location.

The stylish accommodation, which seamlessly blends luxury with authenticity, comprises eight spacious and airy ‘bandas’ (cottages), built from local stone and palm leaf thatch. Each is open-fronted so as to take full advantage of the breathtaking views across the unspoiled wilderness of the Selous. The interior décor reflects ‘safari-chic’ at its best. Notable features include a kingsize double bed, separate dressing room, superb bathroom, open-air shower, a Zanzibari daybed and an extensive verandah complete with telescope for ‘close-up’ game viewing.

The experienced guides are hailed as being some of the best in this part of Africa and they will delight in sharing their indepth knowledge with you. Game activities are not only conducted in open safari vehicles – but also on foot and by boat (on nearby Lake Tagalala). Relaxation however, is the key here – and the friendly genuine staff are dedicated to ensuring that your stay is a truly memorable one. Privately owned for more than 30 years, you will immediately feel as if you are sharing the owners’ private home in the African bush – such is the welcoming hospitality which prevails. Meals tend to be a convivial affair – with guests and guides alike mingling together –whether it be a late bush breakfast or a candlelit dinner under the African stars.
