Keikahanui Nuku Hiva Pearl Lodge

Unlike the Society Islands, the Marquesas have no sheltering reefs or lagoons to protect them from the ocean waves and so the coastlines end in abrupt cliffs or indented bays swept by the surf.

The view from the air when flying into Nuku Hiva is truly breathtaking. It is the largest of the Marquesan Islands and the Keikahanui Pearl Lodge is located on the island’s south coast, overlooking the village of Taiohae (the administrative and economic capital of the Marquesas) and the black sand beach of Taiohae Bay. The lodge offers 20 individually designed bungalows which combine local artistry and materials with awe-inspiring panoramic views. The lodge also has a restaurant, bar and a swimming pool.
