This stunning camp is situated in a 24,000 hectare concession called the Makuleke, where the Limpopo and Luvuvhu Rivers meet in the far northern reaches of the Kruger National Park. Given its superb setting in one of the wildest and most remote parts of the Park, Pafuri offers wonderful game viewing, varied vegetation and some of the best birding in all of the Kruger. Renowned for its beautiful fever tree forests, magnificent gorges and Crook’s Corner – believed to be a favoured hide-out used by ivory poachers and fugitives – the Makuleke is also the meeting point of three countries – Zimbabwe, South Africa and Mozambique. The region is considered one of Kruger’s bio-diversity hot-spots, known for its large herds of elephant, buffalo, leopard and lion – not to mention the incredibly prolific birdlife.

Accommodation consists of 20 stylish tented suites (including six family rooms for up to four people), each with a private deck and an en-suite bathroom with both an indoor and outdoor shower. All suites look out over the Luvuvhu River – and your deck is the perfect vantage point from which to gaze in awe at Africa’s amazing wildlife spectacle as the animals converge on the river for a drink!

The Makuleke is also famous for its anthropological history which dates back some two million years – and throughout the concession there is evidence – in the form of rock paintings and artefacts – of the early human inhabitants.

Pafuri offers a completely contrasting safari experience from the other lodges in the Kruger – and we highly recommend combining your stay here with one of the private game lodges in the southern Kruger or the Sabi Sands.
