This totally unique Singapore boutique hotel has converted a row of shophouses into 84 stylish guest rooms. Visually stunning, the Scarlet offers an enticing blend of baroque romance and sensual opulence in a fantastic location, just a few minutes walk from the trendy boutiques, restaurants, spas and bars of Club Street. The lobby area features dramatic black floors, ornate gold mirrors, chaise longue chairs and red velvet drapes. The red and pink hued restaurant is aptly named ‘Desire’ and claims to offer a provocative menu. The bar is named ‘Bold’ and the strong gold, black and red colour palette attracts a fashion conscious crowd. Even the silver fitness room is named ‘Flaunt’! The rooftop restaurant and terrace bar have great views over the city and feature individual marquee style seating for four. The hotel does not have a pool but a rooftop Jacuzzi allows guests to relax. Thanks to the need to preserve the exterior of this heritage building, rooms all vary in shape and size, some do not have windows and some have skylights instead. The lower category rooms can be very compact and are decorated in a stylish and relatively classic design. It is worth considering upgrading to one of the hotel’s five Suites, each with its own theme and sumptuous décor. ‘Splendour’ is a two bedroom suite, ‘Lavish’ has rich gold and olive hues, ‘Swank’ has a chic silver and mocha colour scheme and ‘Opulent’ features a dramatic gold sunburst headboard. ‘Passion’ is a highlight, with its fuschia boudoir style and private outdoor Jacuzzi. This room is ideal for honeymooners.
