Tropical, captivating and romantic, this small stylish hideaway is discreetly tucked away on a forested hillside on Praslin’s beautiful north-east coastline. The setting is a natural ‘coconut-tree clad’ amphitheatre, cut into the island’s granite rock – and all rooms have a relaxing verandah with panoramic views overlooking one of the prettiest bays in the Seychelles. The lush slopes lead down to the private beach of Anse Government – a gentle crescent of glorious white sand protected at both ends by rocky outcrops. Winding pathways lead up and down the hillside through the hibiscus and frangipani trees to the hotel’s unique accommodation. The 23 intimate and stylish deluxe rooms are housed in detached and semi-detached two-storey cottages which are dotted across the hillside (your room will either be on the upper or lower level). The use of natural wood combined with light refreshing colour schemes creates an air of understated elegance –and adds to the charm of this delightful Seychellois hotel where friendly attentive service is a hallmark. Further down the hillside, and closer to the beach, the four Executive Suites and three Senior Suites are ideal for those looking for some extra space. They each have a separate living area – and families with younger children (from 3 - 11 years) will enjoy the larger Executive Suites which also have a second smaller bathroom. L’Archipel has a restaurant and bar in the main building and a second restaurant and bar at the beach. There is also an infinity-edge freshwater swimming pool, a small gym and massage room. The hotel offers complimentary windsurfing, canoeing and boat trips for snorkelling. Deep sea fishing, scuba diving and day excursions to neighbouring La Digue can also be arranged. The fourth largest island in Seychelles (7kms off Praslin’s south-west coast) and accessible by traditional ferry, La Digue offers an authentic Seychellois experience where time really does appear to have stood still – ox carts and bicycles continue to hold sway as the main modes of transport on the island. Boat taxis to nearby Saint Pierre Island as well as to Anse Georgette and Anse Lazio beaches can also be arranged (Anse Lazio is widely acclaimed to be one of the world’s most stunning beaches). Another ‘must-see’ is Praslin’s renowned Vallée de Mai – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – where the famous coco-de-mer (sea coconut) grows wild on ancient palm trees (bicycles can be hired at reception).
