This unique wilderness adventure – which starts from the small township of Makarora (a 40 minute drive from Wanaka) - combines a scenic flight, a wilderness walk and a jet boat ride through the stunning Mount Aspiring National Park – all in one unique 4 hour wilderness adventure! The day begins with a 25 minute flight past glaciers, mountain lakes, hanging valleys and lush rainforest to the remote Siberia Valley in the Mount Aspiring National Park – the starting point for the next leg of your journey – a 3 hour hike to the Wilkin River Valley. The hike takes you through native beech forest, beside a stream and over a craggy saddle before descending into the valley where you will board an awaiting jet boat for a thrilling and scenic ride along the Wilkin River back to Makarora! Mountains, glaciers, alpine lakes, rivers, rainforest and waterfalls...the Siberia Experience enables you to enjoy the very best of New Zealand's beautiful scenery all in one day!
