Tucked amidst native bush on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, the views from this stylish retreat are... quite simply… breathtaking! With panoramic views of the lake and Remarkables mountains, this beautiful lodge feels wonderfully remote, yet is just ten minutes drive from Queenstown. The lodge and villas have been built of contemporary New Zealand design using cedar and local schist stone – and take full advantage of the magnificent alpine setting. Each of the six villas boasts floor-to-ceiling windows, a separate lounge with fireplace, a large window seat, a private outdoor terrace with 180 degree views – and stunning bathrooms with oversized spa baths set beside a picture window. The four suites (two of which are in the main lodge building) are slightly smaller but equally as stylish – and one has a smaller second bedroom ideal for young children. For those needing more space, a suite and a villa can be booked together to make a wonderful two storey retreat. The beautiful main lodge houses the relaxing guest lounge and dining area – all designed to maximise the wonderful views, of course! Breakfast and four course evening meals with wine are included in your stay, with a strong emphasis on fresh local produce. Walks and fishing are available from the lodge – and if you can tear yourself away, Queenstown’s shops, restaurants and adventure activities are just a short drive away. At the end of the day, retreat to Matakauri’s Spa, a wonderful sanctuary nestled amongst native bush using natural and organic products.
