In the heart of the Southern Alps, this wilderness haven nestles in mountain beech forest on a 6000 acre merino sheep farm, surrounded by the breathtaking alpine scenery of Arthur’s Pass National Park. The lodge offers twenty queen-size ensuite Mountain View Rooms and four newer and more stylish Alpine Lodge Rooms (these recommended newer rooms are tucked away in the forest and boast a kingsize bed, spa bath and private balcony). As with its sister property at Lake Moeraki, there are no radios or televisions to disturb the solitude. Your stay includes breakfast and dinner – and meals take advantage of the wonderful, local fresh New Zealand produce (lunch can be arranged for an additional cost). Discover beautiful alpine flowers, beech forest and waterfalls as you explore one of the many nature trails, either independently or with a guide. Canoe on crystal clear mountain lakes, explore the working farm, help shear a merino sheep on the station or take time to view the magnificent mountain sky at night. A daily programme of complimentary activities as well as optional longer guided activities (additional cost) are all available. Whatever you choose, the grandeur of the Southern Alps is sure to captivate you! The lodge is located mid-way between Christchurch and Greymouth (a 11/2 hour drive from either) – and transfers from the Tranz Alpine train station at the nearby Arthur's Pass township (16 kilometres from the lodge) can be arranged. A stay of at least two nights is recommended.
