Villa 10 - The Loft Apartment, Nelson

Nestled into the hillside above the sea, with spectacular views across Tasman Bay to the mountains of the Kahurangi National Park, is Villa 10.

Originally built in 1908, this traditional weatherboard villa has been architecturally redesigned and renovated by your hosts, Graham and Jenny, and offers a choice of two apartments. Our favourite is The Loft Apartment.

Based on the top floor of this magnificent villa, the stylish Loft Apartment basks in all day sun and your own private balcony provides the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the ever changing vista of the ocean and the boats below. Alternatively, enjoy a coffee at the breakfast perch which faces out to where the sun rises in the morning.

Ideally suited to a couple, the apartment is completely self-contained and offers a magnificent four poster bed with a hand dyed and embroidered canopy designed by Jenny herself (Jenny is a textile artist and has her studio on the garden terrace level of the villa. Much of her work is displayed throughout the apartment). The apartment also has a separate sleeping loft accommodating a futon bed suitable for an older child). The kitchen is equipped with every modern facility and stocked with food to cook sumptuous breakfasts. Alternatively, some of Nelson’s best waterfront restaurants are only a short downhill stroll away.

Offering a perfect central base, The Loft Apartment allows you to explore this vibrant city, from the wineries and the arts and crafts, to the beaches and national parks. Graham is an avid tramper and happy to advise and sometimes escort you on the best tracks in the nearby Kahurangi National Park. Alternatively, a couple of mountain bikes are available for guest use allowing you to discover this beautiful region for yourself.
