Nestled in a picturesque setting amongst rows of grapevines, this lovingly restored 1930’s cottage was moved onto its present site on the Kina Beach Vineyard Estate near Nelson in late 1999. Its former existence as an old New Zealand schoolhouse is still recognisable from the outside, whilst the beautifully furnished interior is light and airy and offers the charm of yesteryear. The old school bell hangs on one side of the door and a welcome message is written in chalk on a small blackboard. This romantic retreat has a fully equipped kitchen and a delightful double bedroom with views across the vines, whilst the large open plan living area features the original windows, polished native timber wooden floors and tongue and groove walls and ceilings. A deck wraps around the front of the cottage where you can enjoy relaxing evenings watching the sun set over the Tasman Bay and Moutere Estuary before cooking the best of the local meat or fish on the barbecue. A path leads through the vineyard and down the road to Kina Beach. There are wineries close by or you can learn from your hosts about the operation of this small vineyard. The Abel Tasman National Park is only half an hour’s drive north whilst Nelson is the same distance to the south. There is also a 9 hole golf course nearby. Breakfast provisions are supplied for your arrival.
