Having undergone an extensive deluxe refurbishment in the summer of 2012, which includes a new swimming pool, new spa and the creation of a 'floating' bar, Le Prince Maurice has re-opened to offer their guests the ultimate in lavish indulgence.
Sublimely positioned on an isolated peninsula on the north-east coast of Mauritius, this exquisite hideaway is a member of the distinguished Leading Hotels of the World and one of a few properties worldwide to earn the coveted ‘Purple Palace’ status. The staff are discreet and will cater to your every whim – so just lie back and enjoy the romance of this pristine Mauritian idyll.
Lying within sixty acres of tropical gardens amidst idyllic surroundings, Constance Le Prince Maurice is widely recognised as one of the finest establishments in the Indian Ocean. Fringed by an uninterrupted swathe of brilliant white sand and enclosed by its own reef-protected lagoon, this glorious setting promises an uncompromisingly glamorous beach experience. From the moment you step foot under the soaring timber entrance, you will be captivated by the charm of this stylish sanctuary – an allure which extends through to the sensational ‘suite only’ rooms. Scattered along the fine white sand, throughout the gardens or on stilts perched over the lagoon, each colonial-style thatched suite is beautifully appointed with wooden furniture, delicate fabrics, cream tones and exquisite marble bathrooms. Sheltered from the prevailing winds and designed with complete privacy in mind, the air-conditioned suites spill out onto private terraces or balconies.
Ten of the Junior Suites enjoy a beachfront location, eight are perched on stilts overlooking the lagoon whilst the remaining 58 Junior Suites are dotted amongst the tropical gardens. The individual Villas are either elevated on stilts or boast private swimming pools and direct access to the soft sand. At the exclusive end of the scale, the aptly named Princely Suite is indulgently lavish. Three bedrooms, two swimming pools, an interior garden and three individual terraces – each of which enjoys a different view of the lagoon – provide a decadent refuge for the most discerning of travellers. For those with children, the Family Suites feature a master bedroom with ensuite and a sitting area plus a children's bedroom with bunk beds and a bathroom. The Family Suites are located on the ground or first floor, with views across the sea or tropical gardens, and two offer direct access to the beach. For larger families or those seeking extra living space, there are also some lavish villas, either on the beachfront with a private heated pool or on stilts overlooking the fish reserve.
Superb food and wine is an integral part of the ‘Prince Maurice’ experience. The magical, ‘floating’ Le Barachois restaurant, which is set at the end of a snaking boardwalk, is as fabulous as the cuisine it serves, whilst à la carte light, spicy flavoured gourmet food is available at the stylish L’Archipel restaurant overlooking the pool. A healthy children’s menu ensures everyone eats well. Rounding off a perfect day sipping cocktails as the sun disappears behind the mountains, is an absolute ‘must’.
Children (from 4-11 years) can meet new friends and unleash their spirit of adventure at the Constance Kids’ Club where local arts and crafts, culinary activities, scavenger hunts and yoga classes will keep them entertained. The Club has a swimming pool, an outdoor playground and open play areas where a kids’ circus is sometimes created!
Parents can have their fun too! Burn calories at the heated lap pool and then indulge in a pampering treatment at the U Spa by Constance (where there is also a fitness centre). Activities abound – from water sports, tennis and cycling to golf at the two nearby courses at Constance Belle Mare Plage.
El Nido Pangulasian – Philippines
Tucked away in a secluded bay of emerald waters and dramatic limestone karsts, El Nido Pangulasian in the Philippines is simply sublime. Endless stretches of pristine beaches and a marine sanctuary beneath the waves, you will see why it has been voted as the Most Beautiful Island in the World by Condé Nast Traveller. This really is an untouched, picture perfect haven just waiting to be discovered…
