Located on a private island accessible only by boat, Pangkor Laut is surely one of the world’s most unique and most romantic destinations. The island is particularly picturesque, surrounded by emerald waters, small coves, white sand beaches and overlooking other nearby islets. The resort covers only a small part of the island and has been built to blend in sympathetically with the surrounding ancient rainforest. Three miles off the Malay West coast, the island is reached by boat from Lumut, around three to four hours drive North from KL. It is also possible to arrange a helicopter transfer, ensuring that the resort is secluded yet accessible. Accommodation is provided in 148 villas with the lowest category being the Garden Villas, which are set in double storey buildings. Ground floor rooms have an outdoor bathtub in a private courtyard whilst the upper floor rooms have outdoor rainforest view bathrooms. Hill Villas offer a similar layout but enjoy stunning views across the rainforest and some with views of the sea. Beach Villas are similar in size and facilities but are semi-detached bungalows set in the gardens just steps away from the white sandy beach. Sea Villas and Spa Villas are Pangkor Laut’s most iconic room type – perched on stilts over the water and linked by wooden walkways. With a lap pool, four restaurants and three bars, even long stay guests will never tire of this idyllic island. The award-winning Spa Village is truly stunning and combines the best of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Thai and Balinese healing treatments.
