Hotel Maya

Re-opened two years ago after massive refurbishment, the Hotel Maya has a chic, modern feel and styles itself as a ‘boutique urban resort’. Located just adjacent to the landmark Petronas Towers, the hotel’s aim is to create a serene retreat from the city.

The colourful and thoroughly modern lobby is immediately eye-catching, accessed along a bamboo panelled pathway, and the hotel’s 206 rooms and suites are also well designed. All rooms have a truly contemporary feel with timber flooring, huge windows and hi-tech amenities. Bathrooms are separated from the main part of the bedroom by an unusual floor to ceiling glass panel, ensuring that natural light reaches all parts of the room and that the views of KL’s skyline can be enjoyed everywhere. The colour schemes are a striking white, black and dark red combination.

In room amenities include broadband, espresso machine and DVD player. Each room also has butler service. Studio rooms are relatively compact and it may be worth considering upgrading to a Suite room, where extras include complimentary minibar and romantic love seats for honeymooners.

Hotel facilities include a library and hydrotherapy swimming pool, set in a distinctive bamboo surround. There is a spa for relaxation as well as a fitness room. A Malay restaurant, coffee bar and Japanese restaurant offer a great choice of dining before retiring to the Sky Lounge – a cigar bar with wonderful views across KL.
