MALAWI HOLIDAYS

Landlocked between Zambia, Tanzania and Mozambique, you will find one of Africa’s more discreet destinations, Malawi. Malawi is all things Africa; it has stood back whilst other safari destinations became consumed by tourism, and watch them suffer whilst it remained unspoilt and true to itself. With a ‘chilled’ pace of life, full of friendly locals, idyllic landscapes and exquisite lakeshore beaches, it is the perfect place to relax at the start or end of your safari, or to explore as a destination in its own right.

WHY TURQUOISE HOLIDAYS LIKES MALAWI

"Because Lake Malawi is the best surprise in Africa!" - Ben, Product Manager

WHY GO ON A MALAWI HOLIDAY?

Lake Malawi - Malawi is get most of its fame for its stunning lake, and it is stunning! You’d never expect to see such a mass of water in the middle of Africa – you think you’ve reached the coastline it’s so big. With beautifully white sand beaches and magnificent islands dotted around this wondrous lake, you must come take a look if you find yourself near – it is really special.

The Malawi Experience - Malawi is a little behind the rest of the safari destinations in terms of game viewing, but it is closing the gap. Parks like Majete and Liwonde are become really established game viewing parks. However, big 5 game viewing is not what Malawi is about. Instead Malawi is about enjoying what Malawi is known for, the peace, tranquillity and the ever so heart warming experience it can offer.

Safari Lake Holidays - We feel the best way to incorporate Malawi into a trip is by using the Lake as an extension of a safari in Zambia, specifically South Luangwa. Doing a trip that would start at the Victoria Falls before heading to South Luangwa, one of Africa’s best national parks, to finish on Malawi’s lakeshore would be a trip of a life time!

WHERE TO STAY WHILST ON A MALAWI HOLIDAY

Kaya Mawa - one the world’s best island getaways, Kaya Mawa is located on the beautiful Likoma Island, found towards the north eastern part of Lake Malawi.

Mumbo Island - Mumbo Island is the remote ‘Robinsoe Crusoe’ desert island dream; a pristine and deserted Tropical Island floating on the expansive waters of the Lake Malawi.

Pumalani - Pumulani means ‘rest well’ in the local language, and there’s no surprise why, this wonderful property is the perfect place post safari to sit back and relax.
