Master the tastiest Lao dishes

Although not as widely known as neighbouring Thailand, Laos has a unique cuisine which is a melting pot of spices, herbs and mouth-watering flavours. Lao meals are traditionally made up of several dishes served at once and are always accompanied by sticky rice, rolled up into balls using your hands and dipped into curry sauces. In rural areas, the Lao people even eat insects and it is this unusual side of the cuisine which inspired the writer Natacha du Pont de Bie to write her book ‘Ant Egg Soup’, featuring tales of her culinary adventures in Laos. One of her chief instructors in Lao cuisine was a lady named Vandara, whose guesthouse near to the Kuang Si waterfalls is now home to her cookery school, started up in light of her newfound culinary fame! Learn how to make laab, curries or salads with this knowledgeable lady.
