Wonderfully located on the private Ol Pejeta Conservancy at the foot of Mount Kenya, this superb new camp offers six spacious tents with views across a permanent waterhole. Each tent boasts a generous and shaded verandah and a tastefully decorated interior with a shower and flush toilet. The main area is a timber and canvas framed space anchored at both ends by house stone fireplaces. The Kicheche team have taken the best design aspects form their renowned Kicheche Bush Camp and created the perfect low-impact safari retreat. As normal for Kicheche guests, guided activities are totally flexible and aim to maximise the time spent watching Africa’s fascinating wildlife. The 90,000 hectare Ol Pejeta Conservancy is home to East Africa’s largest population of Black Rhino as well as rare species such as White Rhino, Grevy’s Zebra, Jackson’s Hartebeest and Beisa Oryx. Game drives, night drives and guided walks enable guests to see a diverse range of animals including all the big cats, elephants, reticulated Giraffe and a number of primates including the Patas Monkey. There is also the opportunity to radio track collared lions. This is a wildlife experience which perfectly combines with, and compliments, the wonderful Mara ecosystem. There are few vehicles on the Conservancy – therefore game viewing is a very private and rewarding experience. Nearby, there is also a Chimpanzee Sanctuary for orphaned chimpanzees – and as guests at this camp, you are exclusively allowed to visit the Sanctuary outside the normal hours. The camp is accessible via a scheduled flight from Nairobi to Nanyuki followed by a 40 minute drive.
