Govenors' Il Moran

Situated in a corner of the Mara which has repeatedly been selected by the BBC for the filming of the 'Big Cat Diary' series, Governors’ Camps have clinched numerous awards and accolades for their distinct combination of oldworld charm, romance, adventure and first class service.

A unique ambience prevails in each of the Governors’ Camps whilst local materials, awe-inspiring scenery and delicious food are hallmarks of all.

Recreating the atmosphere of an original hunting camp, Il Moran’s ten tents are hidden in the shade of old African Fig trees along the banks of the Mara River. Specifically designed for those who desire an extra touch of luxury, each spacious tent is completely private and furnished with a beautiful kingsize bed – crafted from ancient fallen olive trees. Spacious ensuite bathrooms with a flush toilet, ‘safari-bucket’ shower and a Victorian bath allow you to soak away the dusty day. In the evenings, candelit dinners can be served either on your private verandah – or deep in the bush under the stars.

View Africa’s predators and herds from a comfortable 4WD vehicle, on a walking safari, or soar over the Mara’s scattered wildlife in a hot air balloon at dawn (additional cost).

Governors’ Il Moran is accessible via a daily scheduled or charter flight from Nairobi, followed by a 15 minute road transfer.
