Sublimely positioned on an isolated peninsula on the north-east coast of Mauritius, this exquisite hideaway is a member of the distinguished Relais & Châteaux hotel group and is one of only seventeen properties worldwide to earn the coveted ‘Purple Palace’ status.

Lying within sixty acres of tropical gardens amidst idyllic surroundings, Le Prince Maurice is widely recognised as being one of the finest establishments in the Indian Ocean. Fringed by an uninterrupted swathe of brilliant white sand and enclosed by its own reef-protected lagoon, this glorious setting promises an uncompromisingly glamorous beach experience. From the moment you step foot under the soaring timber entrance, you will be captivated by the charm of this stylish sanctuary - an allure which extends through to the sensational ‘suite only’ rooms. Scattered along the fine white sand, throughout the gardens or on stilts perched over the lagoon, each colonial-style thatched suite is beautifully appointed with wooden furniture, delicate fabrics, cream tones and exquisite marble and jacuzzi bathrooms. Sheltered from the prevailing winds and designed with complete privacy in mind, the air-conditioned suites spill out onto private terraces or balconies.

Ten of the Junior Suites enjoy a beachfront location whilst the remaining eight are perched on stilts overlooking the lagoon. The individual ‘villa-style’ Senior Suites are either elevated on stilts or boast private swimming pools and direct access to the soft sand. At the exclusive end of the scale, the aptly named Princely Suite is indulgently lavish. Three bedrooms, two swimming pools, an interior garden and three individual terraces - each of which enjoys a different view of the lagoon - provide a decadent refuge for the most discerning of travellers.

Superb food and wine is an integral part of the ‘Prince Maurice’ experience. The magical, ‘floating’ Le Barachois Restaurant, which is set at the end of a snaking boardwalk, is as fabulous as the cuisine it serves, whilst à la carte dining at the stylish poolside L’Archipel is simply ‘magnifique’. Rounding off a perfect day sipping cocktails as the sun disappears behind the mountains, is an absolute ‘must’.

The ‘Les Petits Princes’ Mini Club with its fully equipped playroom, dining room and private swimming pool will keep the children entertained whilst parents indulge in the heavenly Guerlain Spa or play a round or two on one of the championship golf courses at the nearby sister property, the Belle Mare Plage. Other complimentary activities include tennis, squash, cycling and a variety of watersports such as waterskiing, windsurfing, snorkelling, kayaking and glass-bottom boat trips. There are also two tennis courts and bicycles for guests' use.

The staff are discreet and will cater to your every whim - so just lie back, select your favourite beach for the day (there are 3 to choose from) and enjoy the romance of this pristine Mauritian idyll.
