Ol Donyo Wuas lies in the foothills of the Chyulu Range in southern Kenya, halfway between the Tsavo and Amboseli National Parks, in the shadow of the snow capped peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro. The lodge enjoys exclusive access to 33,000 acres of Maasai-owned land - a wilderness acclaimed for its vast and empty panoramas.

The lodge was originally built in 1986 as the private home of well-known safari legend, Richard Bonham, son of one of Kenya’s first game wardens and a tourism pioneer in his own right. Your hosts, Patrick and Nicole, and their crew of Maasai guides will warmly welcome you to this special unspoilt corner of Kenya and tend to your every

desired need.

The lodge consists of just 6 individual cottages - each with an ensuite bathroom, open fireplace and verandah with spectacular views of the plains and Mount Kilimanjaro. In keeping with its eco-friendly focus, electricity and hot water are generated by a solar system with wood burning stoves as back-up.

Afternoons at Ol Donyo Wuas are siesta time - spend it reading or capturing the day on paper - before heading back out into the bush in the late afternoon to watch the sun slip over the Kenyan horizon. Not only are safaris offered in open 4WD vehicles and on foot, but also on horseback, which is without a doubt one of the highlights of a stay at Ol Donyo Wuas!

Dinner is a spectacular affair under a blanket of stars serenaded only by the soundtrack of the wild African bush. Ol Donyo Wuas is accessible via a daily scheduled flight from Nairobi or by a 50-minute private charter.

PRICES

Prices from £205 per person per night twin share including all meals, local beverages, game activities, guided walks and airstrip transfers. The scheduled flight or private charter is additional. Closed April, May and November.
