The Freycinet Peninsula, one of Australia’s oldest and most spectacular coastal National Parks, projects eastward from the Tasmanian mainland and boasts a melting pot of natural habitats. Set in seclusion in the midst of this breathtaking scenery, Freycinet Lodge has won numerous environmental awards for the discreet way in which its 60 cosy cabins integrate with their pristine surroundings. The spacious open-plan Premier Wineglass cabins are the newest addition to the accommodation range and have brought a fresh new style to Freycinet. Features include a double spa bath, kingsize bed, CD player, plunger coffee and a private balcony with easy access to nearby Richardson’s Beach. Families will prefer the two room Oyster Bay cabins which have a kingsize double in the main room and a single bed with a set of bunk beds in the second room. The lodge’s Richardson’s Bistro, which offers casual dining, takes its name from the adjoining beach which sweeps in an arc around the waters of Coles Bay. Guests can enjoy the sounds of a busy open kitchen and the aroma of freshly prepared meals whilst enjoying the view of waves breaking on the beach. The Bay Restaurant boasts panoramic views of Great Oyster Bay and on most evenings in the Hazards Bar, wine tasting sessions offer the chance to meet fellow guests and sample some of Tasmania’s best boutique wines and beers. The lodge offers a daily guided activities programme which includes a walk to the acclaimed Wineglass Bay Lookout and a 4WD trip to explore the secluded bays of the peninsula’s beautiful eastern coastline.
