The Majestic is one of Saigon’s most historic and iconic properties. Built in 1925, the property was the hotel of choice for visiting dignitaries and discerning travellers. Used as barracks by Japanese soldiers during World War II, the Majestic was later home to the many foreign correspondents and journalists who covered the Vietnam War. Now boasting a new wing in addition to the historic original wing, the Majestic has 175 rooms and is run by the government. The hotel has been fully refurbished and what it is lacking in 5 star luxury, it more than makes up for in character. Rooms are all decorated in Vietnamese style with some colonial touches. Marble bathrooms are a key feature and all rooms include satellite television and air conditioning. Rooms have views either over the city or across the Saigon River. Hotel facilities include a small swimming pool, a rooftop bar with wonderful views across the river and the city, as well as a restaurant, café, lounge and bar. There is also a fitness centre, Spa and sauna. The Majestic also has a fantastic location in the heart of lively Saigon, situated on the corner of the the city’s main street, Dong Khoi, and facing the bustling Saigon riverfront. Guests can choose from a wealth of nearby restaurants, cafes, bars and shops in the very heart of Saigon.
