Days 1 - 3 Exploring Bangkok The ‘City of Angels’ is surely one of Asia’s greatest cities. First time visitors to Thailand may wish to visit some of the more well-known highlights of the city, including the Grand Palace, the Emerald Buddha, Wat Arun (the Temple of Dawn) or lively Chinatown. Those who wish to experience the city on a deeper level may even prefer to discover the city’s canals by long tail boat, an unseen side of Bangkok. Alternatively, relax and explore the city’s nightlife, fine dining, world class shopping or day Spas. (Explore a world away from Bangkok along the canals, CLICK TURQUOISE EXPERIENCES IN THAILAND for details) 3 nights - The Davis Day 4 Kanchanaburi and the River Kwai Leaving Bangkok, head out to the lush green countryside which surrounds Kanchanaburi. Visit Hellfire Pass and the newly built museum, a moving and fascinating memorial to those who gave their lives building the infamous Death Railway during the Second World War. This afternoon, you will have the opportunity to ride a section of this infamous railway, ending in Kanchanaburi town itself. 1 night - Hintok River Camp Days 5 - 6 Ayuthaya & Sukhothai Continue by road to Ayuthaya, once the capital of Siam. Renowned chiefly for its beautiful temples dating back hundreds of years, Ayuthaya is a pleasant riverside town. You will explore some of the ruined temples, the interesting museum and other famous sights, including the Buddha head which has been framed by a bodhi tree. Continue by road to the thirteenth century Thai capital of Sukhothai. You may wish to explore the striking and dramatic ruins by bicycle, a pleasant way to navigate the historical park. 1 night - Pludhaya Resort Ayuthaya and 1 night - The Sukhothai Heritage Days 7 - 9 Chiang Mai Take a flight up to Chiang Mai and explore a wide variety of exquisite temples, including the hilltop Doi Suthep. Enjoy the bustling night market. Those interested in hilltribe culture may wish to visit the fascinating museum, or take a light trek to a nearby village. 3 nights - Rachamankha Day 10 Lisu Lodge Depart Chiang Mai and head to the rustic but charming Lisu Lodge, run by members of the ethnic minority group, the Lisu. This colourful lodge will be your home for one night and is an excellent base for activities as well as being an opportunity to truly experience more of the Lisu culture, through village walks, talking to the village shaman, singing and dancing. 1 night - Lisu Lodge Days 11 - 12 Golden Triangle After lunch, depart from Lisu Lodge and continue onto the Golden Triangle. This beautiful and mysterious area is where the borders of Northern Thailand meet Laos and Myanmar (Burma). The following day, explore this fascinating area including a visit to the captivating Hall of Opium Museum, a project set up by Thailand’s beloved late Queen Mother. You may wish to explore the area deeper either on foot or by elephant. 2 nights - Anantara Golden Triangle Day 13 Onward Journey Continue your journey with a flight to Bangkok and on to any of Thailand’s beach resorts...
