Inspired by African camps, Elephant Hills is Thailand’s first luxury safari camp. A combination of stylish tents and a great range of activities make this a superb place to stay. Its close proximity to Phuket makes it easily combinable with a beach retreat. The large thatched semi-open reception and dining area is the main focus of the camp and venue for buffet lunches as well as educational videos on elephants. The owners are passionate about elephants and about the jungle itself. You will be able to learn all about the habitat and habits of the pachyderms, as well as their conservation. The twenty tents themselves are of the finest quality, tailor made with a rustic yet atmospheric feel. Decorated with Thai artefacts and with a recurrent elephant theme, the tents include effective protection against mosquitoes as well as handmade furniture, fans, kettles and permanent bathrooms, fully equipped with hot and cold running water and Western style toilets. Each tent also has a comfortable seating area outside, perfect for a sundowner or a spot of stargazing. A wide variety of activities are on offer here and naturally include an elephant trek, as well as jungle trekking, a canoe ride on the Sok River for the more active, or cruising on a nearby lake. Khao Sok is undoubtedly one of Thailand’s most beautiful National Parks – with karst limestone formations soaring out of the jungle, clad in lush green foliage and filled with wildlife of all sorts. The backdrop is stunning and the atmosphere in this camp is unforgettable.
