Fakarava
|
The second largest atoll in the Tuamotus (after Rangiroa), Fakarava is one of Polynesia's stunning undiscovered gems and it is also a renowned paradise for divers and snorkellers.
Fakarava's 'powder' white sand beaches fringe an immense lagoon dotted with pearl farms and small islets where colonies of nesting birds have made their home. The beautiful rectangular-shaped lagoon (roughly 60kms long by 25kms wide) is just teeming with marine life and a number of dive sites still lie virtually untouched. Life along the quiet shores is equally unique with quaint villages, old coral churches and welcoming people. Life among the 400 residents is centralized around the quaint villages of Rotoava and Tetamanu.
