Serenely nestled on a small islet in the middle of Bora Bora’s idyllic lagoon, this prestigious Orient Express hotel is accessible via a 15 minute boat ride from Bora Bora airport aboard the resort’s private launch.

Following a recent upgrade costing more than US$4 million, Bora Bora Lagoon Resort & Spa now offers 79 bungalows with polished hardwood floors, open beam ceilings and airy South Pacific inspired fabrics. The overwater bungalows have sun decks leading down into the coral fringed waters and glass top coffee tables which open to allow feeding of the colourful fish. Six of these bungalows are located at the end of the pontoon and enjoy unobstructed views across the sparkling lagoon.

There are 20 beach bungalows, 5 garden bungalows and new for 2004, there are now three stylish one bedroom suites which enjoy beach frontage as well as a secluded garden with a private plunge pool. There is also a brand new two bedroom villa which boasts an infinity-edged swimming pool - perfect for a family or friends.

The ‘pièce de resistance’ of the resort’s ‘new look’ is the Tree House Spa which has six treatment rooms - two of which are set 12 feet above the ground in the branches of the trees. Many of the treatments are based on centuries old Tahitian traditions of healing. The horizon-edge freshwater swimming pool is one of the largest in Bora Bora - and in the evenings, meals are a romantic rendez-vous in the Otemanu Restaurant which overlooks the lagoon.
