Swellendam is perfect as either a well-positioned stopover between Cape Town and the Garden Route – or a longer visit if you wish to explore Cape Agulhas and the quaint seaside village of Arniston. Named after the seasons and elements, each of the seven garden rooms boasts a flat-screen TV, i-pod station and French doors which lead out to the pool. Splashes of white and grey complement the sleek Phillipe Starck furniture creating a fresh concept, which is both inviting and functional. A recent enhancement at Bloom Estate is the sun-drenched guest lounge which spills out onto a wide terrace with captivating views. Breakfast is served in the airy breakfast room and for dinner, your hosts will gladly recommend one of the excellent local restaurants. The town’s 18th century Drostdy museum and historic Cape Dutch buildings provide an insight into the lives of the early settlers and are certainly worth exploring.
