This Tatler award-winning small luxury hotel is ideally located in the heart of the Garden Route, close to the picturesque beach resorts of Plettenberg Bay and Nature's Valley. Privately owned and managed, Kurland is set on a magnificent polo estate discovered and purchased by Baroness Dianne and Baron Peter Behr over half a century ago. Today, their historic Cape Dutch family homestead has been lovingly transformed into this award-winning charming country retreat - and under the careful direction of their grandson, it has retained much of its age-old character. Kurland also proudly boasts a reputation for providing superb hospitality and a welcoming family-friendly atmosphere. The accommodation is housed in delightful two-storey ‘Cape Dutch-style’ cottages. There are just 12 rooms in total – dotted throughout the manicured gardens. The six Luxury Rooms (with a private courtyard and patio) and the four Superior Rooms (with a private plunge pool and verandah) all have a master bedroom downstairs and a first floor loft room for children (filled with Alice in Wonderland style miniature furniture, special clothes and baskets of toys). The loft rooms are connected by either an internal or external staircase. The two Elegant Rooms (with twin beds) have a garden patio. Families will relish their time together ..and their time apart...as Kurland offers dedicated children's playrooms and meal times, along with a babysitting service. Other facilities include a children's pool and baby pool, a jungle gym, tennis courts and petanque fields. Pony riding on the estate is a 'must'! Mountain bikes and quad bikes are also available - and for those in need of some pampering, there is a relaxing Spa. Nearby, the Garden Route's natural wonders perfectly complement the style and service of the hotel. A trip to the incredible indigenous forests of the Tsitsikamma National Park and the pristine sandy beaches of Nature's Valley and Plettenberg Bay should be high on the agenda of all guests at Kurland! Dinner is served in an elegant candlelit room in the main house, whilst the less formal Courtyard Terrace provides the perfect spot for summer breakfasts, lunches and casual dinners. Kurland is known for its innovative country cuisine (with a French influence). The Polo Pavilion Club House on the Estate has a public bar and restaurant with a vibrant atmosphere where you can watch a game of polo from the outside deck. The Polo Patisserie coffee shop also serves freshly baked delights!
