One of the original farmhouses built on the slopes of Table Mountain, the More cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel is located in Cape Town’s ‘Gardens’ suburb. ‘Victorianised’ in 1912, this double storey Georgian building now houses the exquisite Cape Cadogan and since its heyday as an early 19th Century farmhouse, the house has undergone numerous renovations. The brief to the interior designer was to create a swish interior to complement the regal façade. Stylish, yet effortlessly able to retain the important sense of ‘feeling at home’, the Cape Cadogan oozes contemporary elegance with a touch old-style glamour. A listed building sensitively restored into a relaxing and gracious retreat, this welcoming boutique hotel is situated just off fashionable Kloof Street. The white washed wrought-iron gate extends a beguiling welcome – and inside, the grand entrance hall shimmers as the light bounces off the beautiful silver gilt framed sepia prints which adorn the walls. This ‘intimate luxury’ extends not only into the main reception room with its comfortable lounge and open fireplace but also into the twelve spacious en-suite bedrooms, seven of which feature pretty courtyards or balconies layered with rich fabrics and dazzling textures. Bohemian chic’ is a hallmark of each of the rooms which all boast an eclectic mix of contemporary and antique furnishings. For guests seeking total seclusion, the Owners Villa is located right next door to the main hotel. The Villa boasts a luxurious en-suite bedroom and an open plan lounge, dining area and modern kitchen which spills out onto an outdoor deck with private plunge pool.
