Situated 18kms east of Plettenberg Bay, Hog Hollow Country Lodge enjoys an idyllic location amidst lush lawns, flower-decked cottages, wooded valleys, a clear turquoise pool and blue mountain peaks. Set in a private nature reserve on the edge of an indigenous forest, the lodge boasts remarkable mountain and valley views. When Andy and his wife Debbie bought the land on which Hog Hollow stands, over 11 years ago, it was just a patch of pastureland with a few sheds. The couple gave up their surfing lifestyle and started building – and to the amazement of the locals, they even converted the circular water reservoir into a honeymoon suite! The result of their passion and perseverance is an inspired hideaway comprising 15 delightful cottages. Earthy hues set the tone in the African-themed rooms, which come complete with woven fabrics, wooden bed frames and cosy fireplaces. There are no telephones and televisions, just a wooden deck with chairs and of course – a hammock! A farmhouse breakfast is served on the panoramic pool deck, and dinner (optional) is a sumptuous four-course social affair around a large rectangular table – a relaxing opportunity to chat with fellow guests. Walks through the valley, swimming off the sandy beach at Keurbooms and exploring the lagoon, river and coastline of Nature’s Valley should all be high on your agenda! Andy and Debbie believe that ‘turning guests into friends’ is an essential part of the Hog Hollow experience – and many of their friends return year after year!
