September is an increasingly popular month in which to get married and a great time of year to choose if you’re looking for an exciting honeymoon destination. Take for instance, Botswana, which is home to the Okavango Delta, one of the world's largest inland water systems and is, without doubt, one of Africa's top safari destinations. The best time for game viewing in the delta is between May – October, so September is bang on for a great safari.
You can also catch the end of the wildebeest migration in Kenya, where visits to Lake Nakuru (home to thousands of flamingos) and local tribes (there are 42 different cultures and countless dialects) are also recommended. Neighbouring Tanzania is also a good option, especially when twinned with exotic Zanzibar or Mozambique.
For a beach honeymoon like no other, the idyllic South Pacific islands of Fiji and Tahiti are simply out of this world. Fiji's 333 magical islands boast powdery soft palm lined beaches, lush jungle filled with waterfalls and tropical flowers and some of the most luxurious (yet wonderfully small and intimate) retreats you will find on earth! Or choose Tahiti, home of the overwater bungalow and idyllic islands such as Bora Bora and Moorea!
September is a great time to visit Australia - the entire north of the country is best visited at this time (including sunny Queensland, the rugged Northern Territory and Western Australia's wild north), but the south of the country will also be pleasant too as it comes out of winter.
If Asia has always held your interest, then you can travel there in September. While most of Thailand experiences a rainy season between May – October, the Gulf Coast’s monsoon lasts between November - January, meaning that our summer is when you can find dry weather. Also consider North or Central Vietnam, which during September and October is hot, but not too humid.
