Head off on honeymoon now and you’ll escape the dim, dark November days in the UK. With summer warming up in the Southern Hemisphere, there are a number of great choices for newly-weds and as you’re travelling outside the peak school holiday period, you can expect to find some fantastic deals.
It’s spring / early summer in New Zealand, a great time to visit without the mid-summer crowds. If stunning scenery, fabulous food and wine and adventure are what you are after, then New Zealand is a fabulous choice! The southern part of Australia is equally beautiful at this time - from the scenic island state of Tasmania or the South Australian outback to the cosmopolitan cities of Sydney and Melbourne or the world-famous wine regions of the Hunter Valley, Barossa Valley or Margaret River, Australia has something for everyone!
Other adventurous options include southern Vietnam, (which is best visited between November –February) and Cambodia. It’s the start of the dry season in Cambodia and while temperatures are still low (by May it can be uncomfortably hot), it’s a great time for sightseeing. Cambodia is a cultural hotbed and the phenomenal Angkor Wat temples are a must. If you want to explore more, head to Phnom Penh and even consider a trip to the coast where you can find undeveloped beaches (it’s how Thailand used to be twenty or so years ago) or into the northeast where you’ll find stunning forests and remote hill tribes.
Beach-lovers should also think about Mauritius, which is great out of school holidays. It’s the start of summer in Mauritius and a quiet time before the madness of Christmas hits. The Seychelles are also lovely at this time of the year, although the weather can be humid and the sea can be quite rough on the north and west side of the islands (so perhaps consider a south-east coastline).
