Dunedin
A short drive from Dunedin in the south-east of the South Island, the Otago Peninsula is home to rare and unique coastal wildlife including yellow-eyed penguins, little blue penguins, the world's only mainland albatross colony, sea lions and fur seals. You can either stay on the Peninsula itself at Kaimata, or explore as a day trip from Dunedin with our fantastic local guide, Brian.
Southland
The area known as Southland encompasses the amazing and little visited Catlins Coast and the wildlife haven of Stewart Island (where you can see Kiwi in their natural habitat). The region is perfect for those looking to get 'off the beaten track' and discover some of New Zealand's beautiful, unspoiled scenery and fascinating wildlife.
Fiordland
Located in the south-west of the South Island, Fiordland never fails to enthrall and captivate visitors. The area includes the spectacular Milford Sound and the lesser known Doubtful Sound, which is actually ten times larger than Milford Sound. The Sounds can be explored as a day trip from Te Anau or Queenstown, or on an overnight cruise. There are several fantastic multi-day walks in this part of the country, including the Milford Track, the Routeburn Track and the Hollyford Track.
