Nestled in the canopy of a manuka grove with spectacular views of Kaikoura’s dramatic mountains and surf-washed coastline, the five unique and stylish Tree Houses are the undeniable jewels in Hapuku Lodge’s crown. Popular with honeymooners and romantic couples, the contemporary one bedroom Tree Houses – which have been built to complement their breathtaking surrounding environment – each feature a large spa bath, custom-made king bed, log-burning fireplace, widescreen television, Bose and Ipod stereo system, rain-fountain shower, heated flooring and large windows to make the most of the wonderful views. Family Tree Houses, with a smaller second bedroom, are also available. Hapuku Lodge sits between the mountains and the sea on a deer stud and olive farm just outside Kaikoura. In addition to the Tree Houses, there are six guest rooms (in the main lodge) and the unique Olive House – a stylish and spacious apartment for two. Like the Tree Houses, the Olive House boasts a kingsize bed, spa bath and wonderful views! In addition, it also has a full kitchen and twin balconies. The intimate on-site restaurant focuses on simple, fresh and flavourful food, sourced wherever possible from local purveyors and organic growers. Whilst it was whale-watching that undoubtedly put Kaikoura on the map (and we highly recommend a trip to see the mighty Sperm Whales which live in the bay all year round), there are many other things to do in Kaikoura including swimming with dolphins and seals, joining a local guide for an insight into Maori culture or a unique Night Sky tour – please contact us for further details.
