This uniquely built straw bale cottage is set in a quiet, picturesque valley on a 16 acre farmlet in Brightwater, just 20 minutes from Nelson. It has all the features of a modern home (TV, video, CD player, washing machine, dryer, microwave, shower and claw foot bath) but with the atmosphere and charm of a rural country cottage with wonderful thick walls, recycled timbers and extensive use of natural materials. Fine craftsmanship, wooden beams, deep sofas and an open fireplace enhance the cosy ambience. The cottage can accommodate up to 6 people in its two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom. Cotton linen and fresh flowers are just some of the extra touches provided to make your stay more comfortable - and a delicious breakfast hamper is delivered to your door every morning. The pretty garden setting with secluded courtyard is a great spot for alfresco barbecue dining or relaxing with a bottle of Nelson’s boutique wine. The nearby small town of Richmond offers a few café’s and restaurants as well as a handful of shops for provisions. This peaceful rural retreat with a backdrop of hills, sheep, deer and horses, is a wonderful country base from which to explore the Nelson region. There are local wineries and walking tracks close by and three of the region’s finest rivers, where you can enjoy swimming, picnics and fishing, are within a 5 minute drive.
