The Lodge at Paratiho Farms

Indulge and be pampered at this idyllic retreat, set on 2,000 acres of working farmland at the top of the South Island (a 45 minute drive or 12 minute helicopter flight from Nelson). Paratiho – which means ‘paradise’ in Maori – provides accommodation for just 18 guests in six stylish suites and one self-contained cottage.

The main lodge houses the guest lounge, library, dining room, breakfast room and open-plan kitchen. All meals are included in your stay – and menus focus on the wonderful fresh local produce. Evening meals are usually ‘dinner party style’ – but private dining can also be arranged.

Positioned for maximum privacy, the spacious suites are separate from the main lodge and feature a bedroom with kingsize bed (which can be split into twins), a separate lounge with fireplace and a luxurious bathroom complete with claw-foot bath and rainforest shower opening out to a private garden! The suites also benefit from their own outdoor patios – and special touches include homemade cookies and a complimentary mini-bar.

Perfect for families, the Farm Cottage is located a kilometre from the main lodge and accommodates up to six in one king and two queen bedrooms. The cottage has its own lounge, dining room, kitchen, garage and private garden area.

The lodge boasts a superb Health and Beauty Spa, an outdoor heated infinity pool, a tennis court, golf-putting green, croquet lawn and petanque. The Nelson region's award-winning vineyards are nearby, and it is definitely worth exploring the stunning Abel Tasman National Park, famed for its golden beaches and clear blue waters.
