Set on an escarpment with spectacular views of the surrounding farmland and mountains, this charming five room retreat is the perfect relaxing base from which to explore this beautiful corner of New Zealand. The recycled hardwood timber and beams create a sense of warmth and intimacy – as do the two lounges, each with roaring log fires. There are many wonderful walks – either from the lodge or in the surrounding area, and mountain bikes are provided for guests’ use. There is also a secluded outdoor hot-tub overlooking the mountains. Dinner can be arranged (advance notice required) and the food is definitely a highlight!
