Marlin Lodge is a glorious barefoot beach hideaway on Benguerra Island - in the heart of the Bazaruto Archipelago - accessible via a 30-minute boat ride from Vilanculos. Newly re-opened in February 08, following an extensive refurbishment, the ‘new’ Marlin is ‘WOW’ing guests with its softer, more contemporary design. Stylish, yet informal, Marlin has made some improvements to the pool and public areas and the emphasis now is very much on privacy and luxury seclusion. An unspoilt paradise of sugar white sand and translucent waters, the archipelago thrives with marine life and is a picture-perfect scene of scattered dhow sails.

Each of the 14 Luxury Suites and 3 Executive Suites are simply furnished in a palette of soft colours - and reflect Marlin's luxury and essential comfort overlooking a gorgeous and totally unspoilt beach. The exquisite wood, reed and thatch chalets stretch along the mesmerising Flamingo Bay beach - and each comes with its own private covered deck and pathway leading to the beach. Decorated in subtle tones of cream, brown and blue, the recently renovated suites are a unique blend of romance and essential comforts set against the perfect slumbering backdrop of gentle waves lapping the shore and cool winds rustling the palms. The rooms boast spectacular sunset views, whilst four-poster beds, mini bars and indoor and outdoor showers, echo Marlin’s understated island elegance.

The Bazaruto Archipelago is hailed as one of the greatest game fishing sites in the Indian Ocean - and Marlin prides itself on its sophisticated angling boats and tackle. Experienced skippers are adept at tracking sailfish, marlin and king fish in the deep seas, and day excursions can easily be arranged. Or, for some indulgent relaxation, a lazy afternoon siesta, seaside stroll or a trip to the heavenly Beauty & Wellness Centre is guaranteed to soothe sun-basked bodies and clear the mind. Other activities available include diving and snorkelling, dhow sunset cruises and day trips to neighbouring islands.
